AM I A WRITER?

Some are born with obvious traits and abilities while for others, it takes years of digging, searching, questioning and observation to realize who they really are.

If you fall under the latter category, don't worry, it's nothing to be troubled about. A lot of us have been there and it's because of reasons like this that this blog exists. 

I was in the latter category and my case was that of gathering pieces of papers, hoarding journals, scribbling on any surface all in a bid to let out the things that were in my head.

If you've ever asked yourself if you're a writer, here are few signs that you are a writer and there's no better time to identify yourself as a writer than now.

1. YOU'RE DRAWN TO WORDS:

If you can't seem to let go of any word or sentence that makes sense to you, your eyes literally light up at the sight of well articulated words and you're quick to write them down.

2. A STRONG DESIRE TO BE HEARD:

Whether you're interested in the subject matter or not, you find out that there's a yearning to contribute and express yourself. You look out for opportunities to pour out your heart, either on a friend's birthday or a collegaue's anniversary, you just have the right words for every occasion. 

3. YOU LOVE WRITING MATERIALS:

The first thing that gets your attention when you get to the mall is the book aisle. You run your hands across every book that's in the shelf, you pick several journals in admiration, your greatest gift is a beautiful journal and a fancy pen.

4. YOU LOVE READING AND HAVING BOOKS:

What's a day without acquiring one book or reading one.  You prefer to pile up books than shoes and clothes. You prefer being gifted a book than a bunch of flowers. 

5. WORDS AND IDEAS COME NATURALLY TO YOU:

Every sight gives you an inspiration to write. You want to talk about any and everything. You love to give details about everything.

6. WRITING IS YOUR HAVEN:

When things go wrong you run to your journal and pour out your heart. You feel safe writing in your journal than letting people know the challenges you face.

If you identified yourself in any of these signs, then you most likely have the gift of writing.
